DAY TRIP TO ALCALA DE HENARES
Join us this May for a special day trip to Alcalá de Henares, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Spain’s most culturally rich cities—just a short ride from Madrid!
We’ll start our guided walking tour at the Puerta de Madrid, where we’ll step back in time to uncover the fascinating layers of history that shaped this charming town. Our journey will take us past the ancient city walls and the impressive surroundings of the Archbishop’s Palace.
We’ll make a stop at the Regional Archaeological Museum, where you’ll have the chance to admire stunning Roman mosaics and remains from the ancient Roman city of Complutum—a must for history lovers!
As we continue, we’ll head to the Catedral Magistral, with the option to visit inside or simply enjoy its picturesque exterior. From there, we’ll stroll down the vibrant Calle Mayor, catching a glimpse of the Birthplace of Cervantes—Spain’s most celebrated writer—and follow the “Cervantes trail” through Plaza Cervantes and the Chapel of Oidor, where he was baptized.
We’ll finish the tour at the breathtaking façade of the historic University of Alcalá, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Spain.
Throughout the tour, our local guide will share stories of Alcalá as the city of three cultures—Christian, Muslim, and Jewish—and reveal the hidden gems and historic traces that remain today.
This is a perfect chance to explore beyond Madrid, soak in Spanish history and culture, and spend quality time with fellow INC members in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
