Palacio de Cibeles invites INC to a special English Guided Tour!
Please join us for this unique opportunity to explore and learn about one of Madrid’s most iconic landmarks.
“A Historical and Majestic Building”
This comprehensive tour highlights the building’s rich history, original early 20th century architecture, and its extensive refurbishment. We will also learn about its current role as a vibrant cultural center.
Originally known as the Palace of Communications, this monumental structure has served as the seat of Madrid City Council since 2007. Inaugurated in 1909, it was designed by renowned architects Antonio Palacios and Joaquín Otamendi as the headquarters of the Spanish Post Office. In 1993, it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (Bien de Interés Cultural - BIC) in the Monument category.
With its blend of Rationalist and Functionalist design, the building unites tradition and modernity. Constructed from stone, iron, and glass, Cibeles Palace stands on the historic site of the former El Buen Retiro gardens.
“Beneath its metropolitan appearance, Madrid hides a long and surprising history that emerges among its buildings and streets.”
