“Spanish Connection: The Duke of Wellington in Spanish History and Art History”

Following David Ruiz’s fascinating talk at our May Monthly Meeting, “Citizen Kane and Spain: William Randolph Hearst’s Passionate Spanish Conquests,” we are delighted to welcome David Ruiz from Madrid Original back for another exploration of the connections between Spain and Britain.
This time, David will take us into the world of the Duke of Wellington, exploring his connection with Spain and his place in Spanish history and art history.
Returning to the historic Ateneo de Madrid, where David gave his May presentation, we will once again have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful and fascinating setting. The Ateneo, founded in the early 19th century, is a hidden treasure in the heart of Madrid, renowned for its stunning architecture and academic atmosphere.
We will begin with coffee and conversation at the café downstairs before continuing to the Úbeda Conference Room for David’s talk and Q&A.
