Museo LÁZARO GALDIANO
Private Guided Tour in English
Step into history and discover a true gem: a Neo-Renaissance palace built in 1903 as the residence of Lázaro Galdiano and his wife, Paula Florido.
Today, the palace houses the remarkable art collection of José Lázaro Galdiano, a passionate collector and philanthropist, who assembled one of the largest and most significant private art collections in Spain.
The collection contains over 12'600 pieces, ranging from the Middle Ages to Romanticism. Visitors can admire an extraordinary variety of works, including paintings, furniture, jewellery, and decorative arts.
José Lázaro Galdiano (Navarra, 1862 - 1947) was a Spanish financier, journalist, publisher and art collector. By the time of his death, he owned one of the most important art collections in the country and was described in 1940 as one of Spain's greatest patrons of culture.
Our visit will begin with the history of the palace and the lives of José Lázaro Galdiano and his wife, Paula Florido - the creators of this extraordinary art collection.
After José’s death, the palace and its contents were donated to the Spanish state, giving rise to the foundation and museum we visit today.
Our private guided tour will last approximately 1.5 hours, with English translation provided by our INC volunteer member.

Join us on a special guided tour of the Museum of the Americas in Moncloa - an institution dedicated to the preservation, research, and dissemination of the heritage of the American continent and the peoples who have historically inhabited it. Their collections are extensive and diverse: pre-Hispanic archaeological objects, works of art from the viceregal period, and a large ethnographic display of American cultures from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The tour will be in Spanish first with one of the museum's volunteer guides, however one of our members will translate into English. It is expected to last around 1.5-2 hours.
If there are more than 20 of us, we will need to split into two groups, so please indicate if you are Spanish-speaker or not when you register (if we have enough, one of the tours will be in Spanish only).
After the tour, for those who would like, we will be going to lunch at a nearby restaurant.
The tour is provided free of charge, following payment of entry:
General admission = €3 per person - to be paid by each member at the museum.
